5 Ways I Learned To Save Money By Driving Less
Here are 5 ways that I learned to drive less and save more. It wasn't easy but if you try, you can do everything you need to do without draining your wallet.
1. Forget About Brands:
I had to tell myself, do I want to have a Black+Decker drill or do I just need a drill? I just needed a drill. A brand name drill was 26 miles away but a generic drill was only 6 miles away at an employee owned drug store.
2. Coordinate Your Driving:
Pay close attention to your daily commute and try to imagine what tasks you can complete without driving beyond your current commute. I had to choose between going to the fancy grocery store or going to the one that had the same item at the same price but was slightly dirtier.
3. Car Pool It:
Combine your tasks with your friends and figure out what you can do together to drive less together. You can you spend quality time with someone you like and save money by driving less at the same time. I'm funny and use my humor to get me free trips to the supermarket.
4. Walk It, Ride It or Bus It:
Why pay for gas when you can make someone else do it. If you can walk to it, bike it, or bus it, you should. The added exercise will help you loose weight and live longer. Are you on a diet? I told myself I could eat whatever I wanted if I walked to it.
5. Don't Go:
Do you really need to get into your car at all? The majority of the time the answer is no, you don't. I found that not only was my driving needless but the destination was also needless and wasteful too. Your budget will love it.
