How I Will Spend My Refund Check

How To Fight Off the Recession With Your Refund Check

Industry analysts  are saying that the companies that will see the biggest boost from the 2008 refund check will low to middle end retailers like Kohls, Wal*mart and Kmart.  As the majority of products sold at Kohls, Wal*mart and Kmart are made overseas, spending your economic stimulus check there won't actually help stimulate the economy, it will make it worse. Your stimulus check money will go from your bank account to the big box store and end up overseas.

I Will Put My Tax Refund In A Credit Union

The  best thing I can do with my refund money is put it in a credit union savings account. Saving money is always a good idea but with a credit union, my money will grow faster and help my local community. Credit unions aren't like traditional banks because they are owned by their depositors meaning that when my credit union profits from using my refund money, I will profit too.

I May Use My Tax Refund To Buy Into A CSA Or Farm Share

A CSA stands for community sponsored agriculture. My CSA membership  fees will  go towards operating the farm and provide me with fresh vegetables.  Don't think you can find a CSA where you live?  CSAs are all over and New York  city believe it or not  as some of the best farm shares in the country.

Shop At Food Cooperative (If I can Afford it)

Food cooperatives are not just for hippies anymore and I can save money on select items. A food cooperative like a credit union is owned by its members. As a member of the food cooperative I will have access to locally grown and organic foods. If you can't afford to spend most of your refund check at a food cooperative, choose just one item to buy locally. Locally produced eggs and milk are a great way to make your refund check stimulate the local economy without you breaking the bank.

Look For A Made In The USA on The Tag

The goal of the economic stimulus refund check is to put money back into the hands of consumers so they hopefully start shopping again. It is a good idea but you have to be very careful about how you spend your money in order for it to actually stimulate the economy. If you are buying an item at a traditional retail store, look for a Made In the USA sticker or logo so that you know your money is going to help support american workers. The more money you spend on things made by Americans the more money Americans will have to spend.
