How To Thrive In The New Recession

The New Economy and You!

The credit crisis is scary but it doesn't have to be the end of you and your local economy. Here are some ways to you can survive and even thrive in the new economy.

1. Buy Generic and Buy Local
There is little difference between the name brand and generic version of most products. You are mostly paying for the packaging and the perception of a higher quality product. Save money by buying generic and put the money you save into buying local eggs and milk. Buy as many locally produced food items as possible.  It is estimated that buying locally made products at a locally owned store generates 14 times the sale price in revenue for the community.

2. Buy Second Hand
It takes extra time to find what you need a thrift store but the reduced cost of your item is worth it. If you shop at one of the thousands of social service related thrift stores your purchase will directly benefit the people most in need in your community.

3. Use A Credit Union
There has never been a credit union crisis. Credit unions are owned by the people and operate for the people.
