Here are some interesting things I've learned about marketing a thrift store, or charity shop. Your Thriftstore Public Loves YouThe general chaos and lack of standardized inventory can give any thrift store manager a headache, but what drives you crazy is what your customers love. The doors are open, lights are on and you are successful. Always remember that if your thrift store benefits a charity you can't really go wrong and because of that, you should never stop trying. The Public Loves A Good Thrift Store WindowTake the ugliest clothing your have in your thrift store and turn them into a window display. The uglier the clothing, the better the window will look. As soon as it is in the window of your thrift store, someone will try to buy it. The ugly shoes you've had for months will sell in the window in minutes. Lay On The GuiltIf your thrift store benefits a specific cause or charity, make sure the potential customers know it. The more guilt the better. Your tags should say the price and what cause the thrift store profit benefit. A sign near the check out will help guilt customers into buying more or refusing to take their change. |
